Things are quiet just now !!!

Before the weekend, things are quiet in our house. This weekend before halloween and the actual weekend of halloween are so crazy, there are literally activities all day every day and they all include candy !!! I did get these pictures of the Rhino at the park the other day and thought they were so great I have to post them.

I think it's his dimples that kill me

or sometimes I think it's the red lips, that are always wet

No I think it's the dimples.

And this little boy is such a boy....

Fungi

With all the rain we have had in the last few weeks we have developed a little fungus problem. There are many different forms of it all over the place. This one was on some of the logs we have piled on the side of the house. It is really neat and a little bit gross.

This was in the front yard, I think they are the very 'traditional' mushrooms that sprout up very quickly after a rain.

It was fun laying in the street, hoping that no one would run over me, just to get these photos. I felt like a crazy lady.

Book Worm ???

This is pure pleasure to my eyes. I want to cry and completely fall all over my boy for getting to this point. It has been hard work and heart ache.

It doesn't come easy but I think he is getting there.

I too am getting there. My faith that things come in Gods timing is really strong, it still is a struggle to be patient and not get frustrated.

I hope to see him read through every meal from now until ......

Although I do want to see his sweet handsome face and hear his little man voice.

I hope his nose has black ink marks from all the reading he does in the future.........

Perspective

Trying to keep things in perspective. This woman at book club, Lynn, talked about something she heard which has struck a real cord in me. She heard a woman talking about changing perspective on what I do every day which is staying at home ( and all that means) and taking care of the kids (and all that means).

If I just looked at things with the attitude that I GET TO instead of I HAVE TO what a difference that
would make. Imagine thinking I GET to do the laundry or I GET to cook for my family or I GET to do crafts with my kids or I GET to show them how to feed themselves or I GET to teach them how to catch a ball. Sometimes it's really hard not to wallow in whatever 'our' stuff is at the time. I wish there was some way to remember that really these things I feel I HAVE to do are short lived and can be taken away in an instant, that scares me. Cause really my existence other than to glorify GOD is my family.

I GET to take care of these poor little scunt up knees, they need lots of kisses.

And I GET to see this, granted it's an old picture, I still cherish these chances I have and I will continue to pray that I can keep things in perspective.

My Birdhouse

birdhouse edit, originally uploaded by stgwinn.

I love my birdhouse. I got it last year at RoundTop, there is a guy who is pretty well known for his birdhouse there. It sits out in the side yard and just watches the cars go by, it's a great location.

Brothers

Brothers, I have several.

I love them but I know growing up they were them and I was me. They didn't really want me hanging around and I was a boy crazy girl who wanted nothing more than to hang out with them.

I loved these pictures and thought I would just share them. They are so peaceful and heartwarming. I love my boys and hope that they always stay this close.

The Farmers Market

DSC_0092

Terri and I headed down to the farmers market this weekend. It's a total of about 5 minutes from our houses. I grew up going down there with my mom to get fruits and vegitables for her co-op. This place has such memories for me. I remember my mom buying this huge block of cheese, and then she would cut it and it seemed like we would eat off that cheese for ever. I also remember sorting the vegitables after we bought them. We would take them over to our old house and lay out however many boxes, then I would go around and put maybe one eggplant and a few oranges or whatever my mom had bought. It was one of those moments I remember thinking I wanted to be just like my mom, I loved doing the vegetables and being part of that with her.

The variety is amazing. Things are fresh and sometimes right off the truck, I mean the semi that deivers them around the country.

This time of year there are all sorts of pumpkins and gourds .

The Houston Arboretum

I took Little Man to the Houston Arboretum today. It's amazing that I can live within 5 miles of this place my entire life and have never been there. It's a great place for a nature walk and to see all sorts of wildlife. I saw a turtle and a hummingbird, Little Man wasn't fast enough to see them and he was busy yelling how he didn't like it there and wanted to go home. Really that just made me want to take him there much more often. WE WILL GO BACK !!!

This flower, I have no idea what it is, we found in the swamp section of the arboretum. I just love the bee that flew thru the picture while I snapped the shot.

And this I just had to include because on Shutter Sisters they had a post about kissing today and this picture immediately came to mind. Kiss Kiss Smooch Smooch !!!
